Welsh honey & F1 Buckfast nucs · From our North Wales apiaries

OUR STORY · NORTH WALES

The Journey to 100 Hives

My YouTube channel “Journey To 100 Hives” follows our adventures from those first hives towards our very own beekeeping empire, one colony at a time!

HOW IT STARTED

One course
Four hives
A bigger idea

I have always been fascinated by bees, but somehow never found the time to take that interest further. That changed when my partner booked us onto a beginners’ beekeeping course. By the end of the first day, I was hooked. We ordered our first hives, and the learning began.

The plan was to grow slowly, but I couldn’t stop thinking about beekeeping. I was even dreaming about bees! What started as a fascination had become a passion, and that is where Gordon’s Honey Co was born.

Today, we produce single-apiary honey from our own bees and carefully raise nucleus colonies, or “nucs”, for beekeepers starting out or growing their apiaries.

BEHIND THE SCENES

The work between inspections

Beekeeping also means building equipment, preparing new sites and keeping everything ready for the colonies.

Here I’m assembling a WBC hive and filming the process for Journey to 100 Hives.

WHAT GUIDES US

Care in the details

01

Know the source

Our honey is kept in single apiary batches so the places and seasons behind it remain distinct.

02

Raise bees thoughtfully

We choose marked F1 Buckfast queens, use clean frames and manage varroa as part of our routine husbandry.

03

Show the work

On Journey to 100 Hives, I share the process, the equipment and what I learn along the way.
