Three apiaries, three different honeys

From clear and runny to cloudy and partly set, each harvest has its own characteristics. Here's how our current batches compare.

Three jars of honey, from left to right: Bangor-on-Dee, Penley and The Woodland.
Bangor-on-Dee Penley The Woodland
Bangor-on-Dee
Clear and golden, with a runny consistency.
Penley
Cloudy and golden, with a partly set texture.
The Woodland
A pale, cloudy honey with natural crystallisation.

These descriptions reflect our current batches. Honey naturally crystallises over time, so its appearance and texture may change.

FROM OUR OWN HIVES

The flowers make the difference

Our apiaries are relatively close together, but the flowers surrounding each one can be quite different. Gardens, hedgerows, fields and woodland all contribute to the nectar our bees collect.

These differences, along with the changing seasons, give each harvest its own colour and flavour.

Why not try honey from a different apiary next time and let us know which you prefer?

Which apiary is my honey from?

You'll find the apiary name, batch number and best-before date on the bottom of your jar. Each batch comes from one of our own apiaries, so you can see exactly where your honey was produced.

What if my honey sets?

Honey naturally crystallises over time. This is a completely normal process and simply changes the texture of the honey. You can enjoy it as it is, or gently warm the jar in warm water if you prefer your honey runny. Avoid overheating to preserve its natural characteristics.

Is your honey filtered?

We use a standard honey sieve to remove visible pieces of wax before jarring. We choose not to filter our honey too finely, as this can remove some of the natural components that make honey what it is. We believe it's important to keep our honey as close to its natural state as possible. As a result, some fine natural particles may remain.

What size are the jars?

All our honey comes in 340 g (12 oz) hexagonal glass jars.
